pond liner. Polyex liners are flexible,
strong and durable with a strength enhancing
UV stabilised and rot resistant coating on
each side of the liner. The Polyex pond
liner is available in black or brown
reversible finish and there is a massive
range of grades and sizes.
Polyex liners are designed to withstand
all natural chemicals and conditions
associated with an aquatic environment as
well as most preparations sold for pond or
garden use. It will withstand whatever type
of soil conditions you have.
Talking of soil when you excavate the
hole for a liner pond save the soil for use
in constructing a waterfall (make sure you
know how to select pumps for waterfalls,
streams or fountains ... check the links on
this site) which you can also make from pond
liner materials discussed on this page. With
a pond liner it is easy to create planting
shelves to suit a variety of pond plants
such as bog plants or marginal aquatic
plants and even deep water pond plants such
as water lilies.
Remove all tree roots, stones, rock and
any sharp objects during soil excavation.
For large liner ponds you'll need to
bring in construction equipment. You can buy
single sheets of liner up to 30 x 20 metres.
This will make a large sized pond.
The general equation for calculating the
size of pond liner you need is as follows
...

Width size
of sheet = Pond widest dimension +Depth
+ Depth again + minimum 1 metre wide to
allow for edging overlap on both sides.

metre wide

size of sheet = Pond longest dimension

Example
.... if your pond is 2 metres wide and 3
metres long and 1 metre deep you will a
liner of the following dimensions
(minimum) 2 + 1 +1 + 1 = 5 metres wide
and 3 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 5 metres long
(remember if you want to create a number
of planting shelves then add another 1
metre in both directions.

PVC
Pond Liner is flexible and easier to handle when you
build a goldfish pond or waterfall from liner. Normally
plastic liners are cheapest in price terms.

PVC pond liners are made from 0.5mm heavy
duty PVC. For use in awkward shaped ponds, or ponds
with shelves.

Easily moulds to pond contours.

Bi-directional stretch makes it resistant
to root penetration.

UV stabilised,
rot proof and have a 30 year
guarantee.
Standard
Underlay (Underlayment to some) protection for all liners

Extra thick heavy-duty polythene underlay
provides a highly effective barrier for
budget ponds.

Puncture and tear resistant giving long
lasting support for your liner.

Flexible, to mould to the contours of your
pond.

Standard Underlay is sold in sizes which
compliment the Polyex Liners. eg if you need
a liner 6m x 5m, simply choose the same size
for your underlay.

All
excavations should be lined with river
sand before laying the underlay. The
sand allows a smooth finish and provides
extra protection.
Liner sizes range from 2.5 m x 2.5 m up
to 35m x 20 m with many variations in
between. Pond construction of virtually any
size is thus made possible.
Polyfix Custom Repair Kit for repairing and
extending liners

Polyfix Tape customises liners to fit oddly
shaped ponds, instant for simple repairs,
seals holes cut for pipes - no more leaking!

The Kit contains two 5m value for money
rolls of Butyl and PVC tape.
Upon receipt of your liner, inspect it
and store it loosely folded, away from bright
sunlight and extreme heat or cold, until
ready to use. Our pond liners are guaranteed
when underlaid using either Polylay,
Polyfibrelay, Standard Underlay or a
suitable aquatic brand underlay. Handle the liner carefully when fitting;
fold, tuck and smooth into shape before
slowly filling with water.
Don't allow the
weight of the water itself to pull the liner
into position. Once installed the liner
should not be walked on, stretched or
exposed to sharp objects (including animals
claws).
